LKFF 2022: Meet the filmmaker – Kim Jung-eun (Gyeong-ah’s Daughter)

Join us ahead of the screening of Gyeong-ah’s Daughter for meet-and-drinks with the film’s director, Kim Jung-eun. The drinks reception is an opportunity to mingle and ask questions in the relaxed atmosphere of Cine Lumiere’s Les Salons, before the chance to hear Kim speak in-depth in the post-screening Q&A session.

Kim Jung-eun was born in Incheon in 1992. She graduated from the Yong-in University Department of Film and Video in 2015. In the same year, her short film In This Town (2015) screened in the Korean Competition for Shorts at the Jeonju International Film Festival.

Gyeong-ah’s Daughter is Kim Jung-eun’s debut feature.

“Gyeong-ah’s Daughter is the story of Gyeong-ah, with her patriarchal conviction, leaving her daughter Yeon-su an indelible disgrace after watching her sexual intercourse video. With this film, I tried to discover the patriarchal violence and misogyny that women face across generations, such as ‘digital sex crime’ and ‘domestic violence’, and provide an opportunity to ponder what we should remember and pass down in order to live as the genuine identity”

— Kim Jung-eun director’s statement on story of her film.
